Teeth Cleanings

A polisher is used to clean the teeth using a fun flavored toothpaste. We will also check for any hardened plaque (also known as tartar) and remove it with a curved instrument to prevent tooth decay from tartar build-up. Finally, a flavored fluoride varnish treatment may be used to help re-mineralize and protect the teeth.

A child's oral prophylaxis or teeth cleaning is the removal of plaque, calculus, and stain from the teeth and gums. This is done by using special instruments to remove the calculus, followed by polishing the teeth. An oral prophylaxis should be completed at least every 6 months to prevent oral infections and decay.
